Broadband, TV and mobile phone customers could save 'hundreds' by swapping providers

People signed up to broadband, TV and mobile phone contracts can save hundreds by switching to cheaper deals, according to consumer experts.

With energy bills on the rise - as well as the cost of living more generally - home workers will no doubt be looking for ways to save money ahead of what could be a pricey winter. Thankfully, Which? has shared some ways that people can keep on top of their finances while working from home.

The consumer experts found that customers who switch away from the 'big four' broadband providers - BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin Media - can save as much as £190 on their annual bill. What's more, those with a TV and broadband package can save even more – over £200.

Switching mobile providers netted customers an average annual saving of £40, with those leaving O2 and Three saving the most.

The consumer experts suggest switching broadband and mobile phone providers as soon as the option becomes available.

Danielle Richardson, Which? Money Expert, said: "With energy bills on the rise, many of us will be worried about our energy usage this winter – particularly if you work from home regularly."

According to Which?, when customers become 'out of contract', providers will often increase the price of their broadband deal. They warn that the jump can be as large as 90 per cent in some cases.

Because of this, it may be worth looking into switching options as it could save hundreds of pounds per year.

There are also other ways that people who work remotely can save, including tax relief on the cost of working from home.

Danielle explains: "If you have the flexibility to choose how often you go to the office – consider how much you spend on commuting versus working from home.

"If your workplace doesn't have an office, you might be able to claim tax relief on the cost of working from home. If you had to work from home during the pandemic, you could also claim."
