Britney Spears praised for 'stepping up for herself' by Crossroads co-star Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana has joined the long list of people praising Britney Spears following the end of her conservatorship last year.

The Toxic singer, 40, was freed from her conservatorship after almost 13 years and former Crossroads co-star Zoe, 43, has said it's "amazing" to see Britney "stepping up for herself"

Speaking ahead of the movie's 20th anniversary in February, Zoe was full of praise for her former co-star, confessing it was "a thrill" to work with her.

Crossroads showcased a story of three childhood best friends who embarked on a cross-country road trip with a man they had just met and along the way, the group build a stronger bond.

Zoe told E! Online : "I was working with Britney Spears when Britney was the biggest thing at that time.

"And she was always just a sweet and kind person. She still is. I just have a feeling that she still is. I'm proud of her for stepping up for herself. It's amazing."

She added: "She's so natural and also so down-to-earth, so approachable. I remember all those things."

Britney finds herself in another war of words with her family after younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears, 30, released her book.

Earlier in the week, Jamie Lynn had begged her sister to call her to put an end to their "embarrassing" feud.

The two have been arguing for years but things took a turn for the worse when Jamie appeared on Nightline to promote her memoir, Things I Should Have Said.

Britney had taken to social media twice within 24 hours to speak out against Jamie's comments and accusations during the interview.

And despite her sister's plea, Britney again took to Instagram on Tuesday to criticise her sibling.

In an explosive rant to her 39 million Instagram followers the pop sensation raged she should have "slapped" her sister and mum "across the face".

The post wasn't up for long, but it was clear to see the star still isn't happy.

Talking about returning home following her very public break-up with Justin Timberlake, Britney explained how she felt like a ghost in the family home.

While speaking about her sister getting her own Nickelodeon show and complaining that he mum could hardly hold a conversation due to pain medication, Britney added: "I remember her sitting on the floor in a conversation and she never got up… and I’m sorry Jamie Lynn, I wasn’t strong enough to do what should have been done … slapped you and Mamma right across your f***ing faces!"
