Britney Spears' dad blasts her legal team as he says hitmaker can speak for herself

Britney Spears' father has hit out at her legal team amid her bid to have him removed from her 12-year conservatorship.

The 38-year-old singer's dad Jamie Spears has had control of Britney's conservatorship since her mental breakdown in 2007 - meaning he's in charge of her business and personal affairs.

And now her dad has hit out at Britney's attorney Samuel Ingham, after he said she lacks the capacity to sign declarations, TMZ reports.

According to the site, Britney's dad says Samuel does not have the unlimited authority to be her "exclusive voice” and says Britney herself has the right to be heard, in documents seen by the outlet.

Jamie claims his daughter’s conservatorship doesn't mean she's stripped of all of her rights - as she still has the right to vote.

He also added that she’s testified at depositions in court during the conservatorship.

Britney has been trying to leave the controversial contract which controls her finances and important life choices for years.

Her father and temporary conservator Jodi Montgomery have been in charge of handling Britney's personal affairs over the past twelve years.

The star doesn't want Jamie to continue as sole conservator of her estate and is asking for a wealth management firm to be appointed.

But back in August a judge ruled to keep Jamie in his current role.

And her conservatorship has been extended until at least February 1, 2021.

It comes amid fans' FreeBritney movement which calls for Britney to gain back control over her life by ending the conservatorship.
