British-Indian doctor with close ties to Donald Trump, RFK Jr recommends simple diet plan to reverse diabetes

Diabetes reversal is a fact and many health experts have strongly defended this. A metabolic disorder, diabetes currently affects billions of people worldwide. The impact of this slow disease is such that it affects the normal life of an individual and slowly progresses with or without even subtle symptoms.

Diabetes can be reversed by making small and effective changes to lifestyle and daily habits.

One such diet plan has been shared by Dr Aseem Malhotra, British-Indian cardiologist. He stresses on a metabolic reset diet plan, which he claims can reverse diabetes in 28 days. Dr Malhotra has been endorsed as a leader in health reform and will have an important advisory role under the Kennedy-Trump administration. "Long term ally and loyal supporter of RFJ @robertfkennedyjr, Dr Malhotra brings an unparalleled depth of experience to the “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) framework," according to a post shared by Dr Malhotra on his Instagram profile.

What is the metabolic reset plan?

The metabolic reset plan revolves around 5 ingredients.

'If an item comes out of a packet and it contains five or more ingredients then it is not allowed,' Dr Malhotra told the media.

The cardiologist claims his patients have reversed their prediabetes and lowered their blood pressure within 28 days on the diet, which isn't meant to be followed forever, the DailyMail reported.

What is not included in this diet?

This diet bans consumption of highly processed foods, sugary foods and foods that lack fiber such as white bread, pasta and rice.

He emphasizes on consuming plant based foods and healthy fats like olive oil and raw nuts and explains that these foods help remove excess cholesterol from arteries and prevent plaque buildup. Dr Malhotra has designed this diet along with London-based nutritionist Kim Pearson.

He recommends following this diet plan just for a month. "One man who took part in a pilot program for Dr Malhotra's diet plan revealed he lost 11lbs and put his type 2 diabetes into remission after just four weeks," the media outlet reported.

Here are the key features of the diet:

Breakfast should ideally comprise a berry smoothie or vegetable omelet.Lunch should consist of a protein rich salad having lots of vegetables, lean meat. Red meat is also allowed in this diet. For dinner, a stir fry with fiber-rich Japanese noodles or meatballs with vegetable spaghetti would be ideal. He recommends eating three meals a day and leaving a four to five hour gap between two consecutive meals. He recommends eating at least five vegetables or pieces of fruit per day.He recommends moderate consumption of alcohol, zero calorie coffee, water and tea.
