Britain's Got Talent sees Mr Blobby make iconic return as Simon Cowell gunged

ITV viewers were left delighted on Saturday night as Simon Cowell was set up by the iconic return of popular 90s BBC character Mr Blobby. The character left the audience, judges, Ant and Dec and viewers howling in laughter when he got up to his usual tricks.

The 63-year-old judge was left soaking in bright pink gunge on Britain's Got Talent as he was picked to join the act on stage for a 'disappearing box'.

He was very much unimpressed, but it left Amanda in fits of laughter as she clutched on to co-star Alesha as new judge Bruno watched on in complete shock.

TV personality Mr Blobby asked Amanda Holden to choose a card but threw them all away when Amanda chose the wrong on. He then tried to get rid of the red buzzer under a hat, but it didn't work and Mr Blobby then buzzed themselves.

"Don't touch me, don't go near me" Simon said very sharply as he came out of the box soaked from head to toe before returning to his judging chair.

Amanda told him he still looked really handsome, as Alesha and Bruno pressed their two buzzers and the act ended. Simon tried to hug the others, as the three of them ran away with Amanda remarking, "I have no shoes," as she attempted to avoid the mess.

Ant and Dec were also chased by Mr Blobby, with Dec managing to escape his clutches. However, he was soon met by Simon who hugged him and they both ended up covered in slime, as did his co-presenter Ant.

Viewers who had tuned into the ITV show soon took to Twitter at the hilarious clip, saying it was "one of the funniest things" they has seen on TV in years.

One person wrote: "mr blobby sliming simon cowell was peak television,"

Someone else added: "Mr Blobby gunging Simon and taking over #BGT is actual TV royalty instead of the other nonsense."

A third penned: "Simon Cowell getting gunged on TV is the funniest thing I've seen in years!"

Britain's Got Talent continues Saturday on ITV.
