Brit trapped in 13ft well for six days with broken leg after 'being chased by dog'

A British man who was trapped in a 13ft well for six days has been rescued.

Jacob Roberts, 29, said he was being chased by a dog and broke his leg when he stumbled to the well in Bali, Indonesia.

He managed to survive with no food and had a "small amount of water left" when he was rescued after a farmer in Pecatu village raised the alarm.

Jacob's cries for help were heard by a local who was going to feed his cows.

Local search and rescue chief Gede Darmada said: "Jacob's calls for help were heard by a local who was going to feed his cows."

Pictures show the rescue team entering the four-metre deep disused well wearing personal protective equipment.

Following the dramatic rescue, South Kuta police chief Yusak Agustinus Sooai said: "He looked thin and injured.

"The victim claimed to have been trapped there about six days before an evacuation was carried out by the Basarnas team on Saturday."

Jacob was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

There were similar scenes in India last year after a one-year-old boy fell down a 60ft well and was trapped for almost 48 hours.

The child had gone to gather fruit with his mum and siblings when he fell into the bore well in Hisar, Haryana.

According to local media, he had been playing with other children when he suddenly slipped and vanished into the hole in the ground on Wednesday evening.

His family raised the alarm when they were unable to rescue him from the bottom of the well.

Hisar’s deputy commissioner Ashok Kumar Meena told the  Hindustani Times  that the toddler - who is the youngest of five siblings - was fine after being rescued.
