Bristol region records 39 further coronavirus deaths in one week

The Bristol region's coronavirus death toll has risen by 39 in one week, according to the latest Government data.

Between November 17 to 23, 14 people lost their lives after contracting Covid in both Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

Six coronavirus-related deaths were also confirmed in North Somerset, and five in Bath and North East Somerset.

The figures comes on the same day that a dip in Bristol's daily cases have been confirmed.

Our city reported 124 people were diagnosed with the virus over the last 24 hours.

This compares to last week, when totals of 192, 158, 279, 339 and 253 were reported.

The latest data show that almost three weeks into the country's second lockdown, infections are beginning to fall across Bristol and its neighbouring areas. Experts said it should take 14 days for a change in behaviour to show in results.

Across the South West, 95 Covid patients were admitted to hospitals on November 20. That brings the overall number of people in hospital in our region with coronavirus to 773.
