Bristol creative agency appoints Nick Sturge MBE as chair

Bristol creative agency Diva has appointed chartered director Nick Sturge as its new chair.

Mr Sturge, who is a non-executive of several other companies in the city and is a governor of Bath Spa University, has been involved in a number of tech ventures regionally.

He is the former director of workspace Engine Shed, by Temple Meads, and was previously centre director of the city’s SETsquared incubator. He was awarded an MBE for services to the digital economy in 2019.

Diva, based in Redcliffe, specialises in making creative content for the gaming industry such as adverts, posters and trailers, and has worked with businesses including Sony, Netflix and PlayStation as well as Bristol-based studio Aardman Animations.

The company said it had made several new appointments to its board, which now includes:

  • Suzy Barnes, founder and chief executive;

  • Andy Barnes, founder and chief operating officer;

  • Deepa Shah - non-executive chief financial officer;

  • Nic Roope - non-executive chief creative officer;

  • Alex Luff - non-executive chief marketing officer;

  • David Lilley - non-executive;

  • and Nick Sturge - non-executive chair.

Mr Barnes said Mr Sturge and the other board members would help “steer” the company's strategy.

“The decision to bring in world-class leadership to our board, with Nick as chair, will help us guide and steer company strategy and ensure Diva’s new executive leadership team can deliver on its potential for growth and remain true to our values," he said.

Mr Sturge added: “We’re all proud to take the next steps with Diva and help this Bristol-based, gaming native creative company on its journey to global success and recognition.”
