Bristol City player ratings vs Birmingham City: No positives as defence crumbles again

Dan Bentley - 4

Questions over his positioning for the opener and reactions for the second after Trusty beat him to the ball. Could have shown more authority from the corner for the third. Did make a handful of decent saves but damage was done from set-pieces.

Zak Vyner - 4

Was beaten for pace by Hogan who scuppered his chance to double Birmingham's lead with a simple ball over the top. Seemed to have ball-watched for the second. Lucky to escape an error in the second with a loose pass to Kadji. Forced to cover a lot of ground.

Andy King - 5

One of three players beaten in the air for Birmingham's opener when Trusty headed home from an early corner. A couple of loose headers forward. A great block to deny a powerful volley.

Rob Atkinson - 4

Difficult first half, sloppy in possession and struggled to deal with the pace of Tahith Chong. Better in the second half but still a poor showing from the defender considering his usual form.

Mark Sykes (off 45, Tanner) - 5

Form is starting to become a worry. Did manage to get some space out on the right but couldn't find the right delivery. Caught out positionally and came off at half-time.

Alex Scott - 6

In fairness, looked to be the only one in the first half looking to carry the ball forward and make something happen. Didn't seem to click with Massengo in the middle. Deliveries from corners were wasteful.

Han-Noah Massengo (off 65, Kadji) - 5

Frustrating first half performance and couldn't impose his authority. Struggled in possession with Birmingham's intensity with the press. Couldn't influence the game in the second half and taken off for Kadji.

Jay Dasilva (off 73, Pring) - 5

Didn't do much wrong but also didn't do a great deal right. Got into some decent positions but crossing let him down from that left side.

Andi Weimann - 5

Looked lethargic in the first half and conceded the free-kick that led to Birmingham's second. Better in the second half but with little luck in front of goal. Looks like he needs a rest.

Nahki Wells (off 45, Martin) - 5

No faulting his effort but it just didn't happen for him in the first half. Was feeding off long balls and scraps and grew increasingly frustrated as the game went on. Replaced at half-time.

Tommy Conway (off 45, Wells) - 5

Couldn't get into the game in the first half. City played a lot of long balls forward but had no chance in the air up against Birmingham's defence. Another player to come off at the break.

Substitutes

Antoine Semenyo (on 45, Conway) - 6

City instantly looked livelier with his presence and pace on the pitch. His strength caused problems but couldn't get a sniff of goal. City struggled to get him involved in the final 20 minutes of the game.

George Tanner (on 45, Sykes) - 5

Difficult to keep up with the pace of the game on his introduction. Lack of match minutes looked evident.

Chris Martin (on 45, Wells) - 5

Unlucky to see his free-kick clip the top of the wall and go behind for a corner. Did offer a different dimension going forward but without creating any clear cut opportunities.

Dylan Kadji (on 65, Massengo) - 6

Booked for a tackle on his opponent. A really difficult game to come in and make his league debut. Showed one or two glimpses.

Cam Pring (on 73, Dasilva) - 5

One or two runs forward but saw little from him from a defensive perspective.

Subs not used: O'Leary, Klose
