'Brilliant servant to the club' - Newcastle United supporters react to Dwight Gayle's departure

Newcastle United supporters have reacted on social media to the departure of Dwight Gayle to Championship side Stoke City. The 32-year-old made 122 appearances for the Magpies, scoring 34 times, and departs to join a Potters side that finished 14th in the second tier last term.

Gayle spent six years on Tyneside, top scoring for the club with 23 goals in his first season with them as they secured the Championship title and instant promotion back to the Premier League.

His efforts in that promotion season have him in good estimation with the Newcastle faithful despite playing a bit-part role for the club in recent seasons. Here is how the Toon Army reacted to Gayle’s move on Twitter.
