'Brilliant moments' - Dean Henderson reveals Nottingham Forest aim after Manchester United loan

Nottingham Forest new boy Dean Henderson says he is thrilled to join a 'fantastic club'.

Henderson completed his long awaited loan move from Manchester United on Saturday as he prepares for a season as Forest's number one back in the Premier League. The England international told the club website he is delighted to work with Steve Cooper and his staff as he looks to push his case for a place in Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad.

He said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining such a fantastic club with an amazing set of fans and a wonderful history.

“I want to thank the manager and owners at Nottingham Forest for the great opportunity to play for this club in their first season back in the Premier League. I’m really excited to work with everyone at the club from the manager, players and goalkeeper coach Danny Alcock.

"The conversations with the manager have been outstanding. When I spoke to him he was great. He made me feel loved and that's important in this game. I can't wait to play for him. Seeing what it's like with the momentum around this place, we've got to stick together and go again.

"We've got to take one game a time. Hopefully the City Ground is a fortress this season and the fans get behind us, never say never on what we can achieve. It's a collective goal and we've got to get up the season as high as we can.

“Finally, just a massive thank you to the fans for the welcome I have received and I can’t wait to celebrate some brilliant moments together this coming season."

Reds boss Cooper was delighted to get his top goalkeeping target after seeing Henderson shine during a two-season stint on loan at Sheffield United, when they finished in the top half of the Premier League.

“Dean is a top-class goalkeeper and he’s hungry for more opportunities to play and to continue to prove himself at the highest level,” he said. “He’s played multiple times in the Premier League but has also experienced the Champions League and international football.

“Again, Dean is someone who has attracted a lot of interest from other clubs and we’re delighted that he has chosen to Nottingham Forest for our return to the Premier League.”
