Family 'devastated' after Alder Hey nurse, 43, dies taking her dog for a walk

The family of a "brilliant and caring" Alder Hey nurse have been left “devastated” after she collapsed and died while taking her dog for a walk.

Jane Baxter, 43, from Litherland collapsed on Tuesday, June 2 when she was taking an early morning walk with the family pet.

Her two children Isabelle, 14 and Harry, 11 are struggling to come to terms with her loss.

Jane’s sister, Sue Baxter, 53, said that she had received a call early in the morning to say her sister had collapsed.

Sue said: “She went out for a walk and didn’t come home.

“I got a call to say she had collapsed on the road and an ambulance had been called.”

Emergency services arrived on Gorsey Lane in Litherland where she had collapsed and took her Fazakerley Hospital.

She never regained consciousness and died later in hospital.

It’s understood Jane’s death is not coronavirus related but no exact cause has yet been found.

Further tests are being carried out but results could take up to six months.

Jane’s family have set up a Gofundme page for her two children to help them in a future without their mum.

The family told the ECHO that Jane qualified as a nurse in 2003 and worked on the High Dependency Unit (HDU) in Alder Hey.

They described her as a “brilliant, caring” nurse who lived for her children.
