May 15--White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana allowed just two earned runs over seven innings, but the Sox couldn't give him a victory in a 2-1 loss to the Yankees on Saturday at Yankee Stadium.
Aaron Hicks hit an RBI double to the right-field wall over the head of Adam Eaton, and Chase Headley scored from first, just beating Dioner Navarro's tag at the plate to start the scoring in the second inning. Didi Gregorius then shot an RBI single past first baseman Jose Abreu for a 2-0 lead.
At the plate
The Sox had four hits and a walk over 5 2/3 innings against Yankees right-hander Ivan Nova. Todd Frazier put the Sox on the board with a solo homer in the fourth inning, his 12th of the year.
But eight of the final 11 Sox batters struck out against the Yankees bullpen.
On the mound
Quintana allowed five hits, walked two and struck out five.

The quote
"We have a lot of respect for him," Sox manager Robin Ventura said of Quintana. "Q has a lot of respect inside that clubhouse, too, not only with how he pitches but how he has gone about it. He hasn't had a lot of run support and he's never pointed fingers."
