BRIEF: Woman, 86, dies after being struck in Bensenville hit-and-run

Oct. 23--An 86-year-old woman died in a hit-and-run incident Friday morning in west suburban Bensenville, police said.

Modesta De La Rosa, of Bensenville, was walking west on a sidewalk in the 1000 block of West Irving Park Road when a gray Ford pickup truck making a right turn out of a Dunkin' Donuts parking lot struck her, Bensenville police said.

Police said the pickup truck continued east on Irving Park Road without stopping. The Bensenville Fire Protection District transported the woman to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village where she was pronounced dead.

According to the Cook County medical examiner's office, De La Rosa lived on the block where the incident occurred.
