BRIEF: White Sox opener at Kansas City postponed due to rain

May 27--Thursday's opener of the White Sox-Royals series was postponed due to rain and high winds.

Sox manager Robin Ventura saw it coming.

"It doesn't look that good when you get some notices on your phone," Ventura said, referring to the emergency flash flood warnings that popped up. "We'll see."

The makeup date was not announced. The Royals said it would not be played this weekend, so there will be no double-header.

Miguel Gonzalez was scheduled to make his fifth start of the seaosn, looking for his first win since July 25, 2015, when he pitched for the Orioles. He'll now pitch on Friday.

Ventura said the rotation will remain in order, meaning Chris Sale will be pushed back from Sunday to Monday in New York, where the Sox play the Mets.

The Sox have lost five straight series as they begin a 10-game road trip at Kansas City, the Mets and Detroit. They hold a slim half-game in the American League Central over the Indians, and have a two-game lead over the Royals. The Sox have held sole possession of first since April 22.
