Jan. 30--Tiger Woods' season debut at the Phoenix Open has gone from bad to worst.
Worst as in the worst round of his career.
The former No. 1 golfer stumbled through multiple bogeys and double-bogeys, needing 82 shots to finish the second round at TPC Scottsdale on Friday.
Add that to a rocky first round and Woods fell to 12 over par for the tournament, meaning he will miss the cut for only the 13th time in his storied career.
Woods missed much of last season with injury and needed surgery to repair an aching back.
"It's just a frustrating thing where I need to get through competitive rounds," he said after play on Thursday. "I need to get rounds [under] my belt and get a feel for it."
Woods' previous worst competitive round was an 81 he recorded in the third round of the 2002 British Open at Muirfield.
Ryan Palmer held the lead on Friday at eight under par.
