BRIEF: Tiger Woods emerges from rough year feeling optimistic

Dec. 24--After enduring what he calls "one of my most frustrating years," Tiger Woods is looking forward to 2015.

Woods reflected on his career and life in a lengthy post on his website. He started off by referring to a PGA Tour season in which he played in pain, underwent back surgery and struggled to recover.

The last 12 months saw him drop from No. 1 in the world to No. 32.

"I'm finally healthy enough to practice and dedicate myself to the game of golf again," he wrote, "and that's going to be fun for next year."

Woods also mused about watching his children grow up and marveling at girlfriend and skier Lindsey Vonn, who suffered a major knee injury but has now returned to win on the World Cup circuit.

As for the coming Tour season, Woods promised more news in the near future.

"I am still working on my playing schedule and should have it figured out shortly," he wrote. "The kids, Lindsey and I are going to spend Christmas together and we're going to have a great time."
