BRIEF: Three San Francisco airport screeners charged with cocaine smuggling

Nov. 07--Three security screeners at San Francisco International Airport have been charged with cocaine smuggling, according to federal authorities.

A woman and two men accepted payoffs to allow smugglers to pass through security checkpoints with cocaine in their carry-on luggage, the U.S. attorney's office in San Francisco announced Friday.

Federal authorities used confidential sources and undercover agents in the investigation.

The three suspects worked Covenant Aviation Security, an airport security contractor, authorities said.

Two have been released on bond; the third remains in custody.
