BRIEF: South Side native Deon Cole starring in new stand-up special

June 01--South Side native Deon Cole will star in a Comedy Central stand-up special, "Deon Cole: Cole-Blooded Seminar," network reps announced Wednesday.

In his first one-hour special, Cole discusses race, his frustration with smartphones and connecting with women on a date. The special, which was filmed at the Lincoln Theatre in Washington, D.C., is scheduled to air 11 p.m. June 25.

Cole, 44, stars on TBS' "Angie Tribeca," scheduled to premiere its second season at 8 p.m. Monday. He was recently a cast member of ABC's "Black-ish."

He also recently starred in "Barbershop: The Next Cut," which touched on violence on the South Side.
