BRIEF: Second City and Slate announce live political comedy show 'Unelectable You'

March 08--Just in time for election season, The Second City and daily web magazine Slate have announced a partnership to premiere a live political comedy show.

"Unelectable You" will kick off its national tour in Chicago in Aug. 2016, playing up to a six-week run.

Composed of both scripted and improv comedy, the collaborative production will feature writers and personalities from Slate to spotlight the humor to be found along the campaign trail. Frequent Second City director Matt Hovde will bring the scandals, political news and "electable" candidates to life with writers Steve Waltien, Tyler Alexander, Billy Bungeroth, Marla Caceres, Ed Furman, Scott Morehead, Carley Moseley and John Thibodeaux.

The show is slated to run through fall as the presidential race heats up. The tour will stop in over a dozen cities throughout the U.S., including a stint at the Kennedy Center in Oct. Full tour dates and cities have yet to be announced.
