BRIEF: Schaumburg woman charged with murder in disabled daughter's death

June 05--A Schaumburg woman has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of her severely disabled daughter after the two were found unconscious in their beds, Schaumburg police said.

Authorities said they believed the mother, Bonnie Liltz, 55, sought to end both her daughter's life and her own through drug overdoses.

According to a Schaumburg police news release, authorities responded on May 27 to a report of a medical emergency in the 1100 block of South Springinsguth Road and found Liltz and her daughter, Courtney Liltz, 28, unconscious from "apparent" overdoses from "various medication." Both women were taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, where Courtney Liltz died early Friday, police said.

"Subsequent investigation indicated Bonnie attempted to end Courtney's life and then commit suicide," the release said.

Courtney Liltz was severely mentally and physically disabled all her life, requiring constant care, Schaumburg police Lt. Shawn Green said.

Her mother had adopted Courtney at age 5 and was her primary caregiver since then, Green said.
