Oct. 15--A low-pressure system making its way inland from the Pacific brought scattered showers to Los Angeles County on Wednesday evening, and the rain is expected to continue into Thursday.
The region can expect "pop-up showers" to form and bring intermittent rain and thunderstorms overnight and into Thursday, said Joe Sirard, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard.
As the low-pressure system makes its way over the region, it is drawing subtropical moisture into the area, producing the rain, Sirard said.
On Wednesday night, one of those pop-up showers formed over the San Gabriel Mountains before moving into the Santa Clarita Valley, and was expected to drop brief, heavy downpours in the area.
Others that formed near Pasadena and Glendale brought rain and thunder, but soon dissipated, Sirad said.
