BRIEF: Royals catcher Salvador Perez removed from game after scary collision

May 28--Royals All-Star catcher Salvador Perez had to be helped off the field Saturday after a ninth inning collision with third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert on a foul pop-up by Adam Eaton.

Perez appeared to bend his left knee awkwardly in the collision, the second in a week for the Royals against the White Sox. He clearly called for the ball and held his hand in the air, but Cuthbert couldn't stop his momentum and fell into Perez's legs.

Last Sunday, the Royals lost two All-Stars on one play when third baseman Mike Moustakas and left fielder Alex Gordon collided while going for a pop-up down the third base line at U.S. Cellular Field.

Gordon is out 3-4 weeks with a broken hand, and Moustakas is out for the season with a torn ACL.
