BRIEF: Report: Northwestern cornerback Nick VanHoose to miss Outback Bowl

Dec. 18--Northwestern cornerback Nick VanHoose will miss the Outback Bowl because of a finger injury, according to InsideNU.com.

The senior tore a tendon in a finger on his right hand during practice Sunday, the website reported, and his recovery will take six to eight weeks.

"I'm pretty sure it got caught in a jersey and (the tendon) just snapped off," VanHoose told InsideNU.com.

The Wildcats (10-2) face Tennessee (8-4) in the Outback Bowl at 11 a.m. on Jan. 1 in Tampa, Fla.
