Oct. 18--Inglewood police are investigating a possible kidnapping after receiving a call from someone who said they saw two men shove a woman and infant into a car trunk in a shopping center parking lot.
The witness told police the woman was approached around 11 a.m. Saturday and was forced to hand over her car keys before the assailants shoved her and the child into the car's trunk.
The men then got into the silver Mercedes Benz sedan, which had chrome rims and tinted windows, and drove away from the shopping center in the 2800 block of West Imperial Highway, according to the witness.
Although nobody has filed a missing persons report in the case, Inglewood Police Lt. Jacqueline Layne said the department still launched an investigation into the possible kidnapping.
"We haven't confirmed a crime," she said.
Around the same time as the possible kidnapping, Layne said two men matching the witness' description of the two who fled in the sedan stole some items from a nearby shop and ran away.
Police still aren't sure if the two incidents are related, Layne said.
