Aug. 15--An early Saturday wakeup call was worth it for Matt Jones, who took a two-shot lead after two rounds at the PGA Championship.
Jones made two birdies in six holes to emerge as the two-shot leader over fellow Aussie Jason Day. Justin Rose parred the 18th hole following Friday afternoon's weather suspension and is alone at 8-under.
Tiger Woods missed the cut after a two-round total of 4-over par. It's his third straight missed cut in a major and it was his seventh straight over-par round in a major.
"I'm going to go home and watch the leaders tee off, probably in Florida," he said. "Actually I'll go to my (new) sports bar (in Jupiter, Fla.), how about that?"
Woods has committed to play in next week's Wyndham Championship, but his agent has indicated it's no sure thing he will play. The Wyndham represents Woods' last chance to make the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Jones, meanwhile, has aspirations to win his first major after firing a second-round 65.
"I've been in a lead on a tour event, but a major is a different story," he said. "I'm going to have fun with it."
He will tee off with Day at 3:06 p.m.
