Man charged in two stabbing deaths at Lyons senior home

April 27--A resident of a senior apartment building in Lyons has been charged with murder in the stabbing deaths of two other residents of the building after a dispute over property, police said.

John Arnold, 67, is charged in the early Sunday stabbing deaths of David Bosseler, 73, and a 51-year-old woman who police said was not being identified pending family notification.

The victims were found dead late Monday morning at Riverwalk Senior Residences, 8019 Ogden Ave., said Ray Hanania, a spokesman for Lyons police.

Bosseler and the woman knew Arnold, and they were in a dispute over the weekend about missing property, Hanania said in an email Tuesday night. Early Sunday, Arnold waited outside Bosseler's apartment until someone opened the door, then Arnold burst into the apartment and attacked the others with a large knife, Hanania said.

Bosseler and the woman died from multiple stab wounds, Hanania said.

Arnold later told police he believed Bosseler took the property, Hanania said.

Arnold was scheduled to appear Wednesday for a bond hearing in Cook County's Bridgeview Branch Court.

The independent-living facility is for people 62 and older, according an employee.
