March 21--Peoria celebrated its 20th year hosting the state basketball tournament with a five-year extension.
The IHSA announced Saturday afternoon that the Class 1A-4A tournaments will remain at Carver Arena inside the Peoria Civic Center for the next five years, through the 2019-20 season.
Champaign and Hoffman Estates' Sears Centre also submitted bids. The Hoffman Estates bid was for 3A and 4A only.
The IHSA also announced that Normal received a five-year extension to host the girls tournament through the 2019-20 season. The IHSA board unanimously approved both extensions.
