Nov. 30--Longtime Chicago interior designer Nate Berkus posted an Instagram tribute to his father, who died earlier this month from brain cancer.
"Last week my father, Michael Berkus, lost a short-lived battle with brain cancer," Berkus wrote in a post Friday. "He was the most generous and funny man and my stepmother and brothers are devastated."
Michael Berkus, 69, died Nov. 20 at his California home, according to the Orange County Register.
In his Instagram post, Berkus included a picture of his father at his 2014 wedding to interior designer Jeremiah Brent in New York.
Berkus, a Lake Forest College alumnus who rose to fame through appearances on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," and Brent live in New York and welcomed their first child, a daughter named Poppy, in March.
