BRIEF: Mt. Prospect native Lee DeWyze wants to be on 'American Idol' finale

Feb. 11--"American Idol" Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze said he would like to be part of the show's finale, scheduled to air in early April.

"You'll see me at the finale. Maybe, you might. I don't know," DeWyze jokingly told People magazine in an article posted online Thursday. "If they asked me to come back and perform, I would definitely be there."

The Mount Prospect native won the Fox singing competition in 2010. He went on release the "Live it Up" album later that year and the "Frames" album in 2013. He's slated to release his new record "Oil and Water" Friday and perform Feb. 20 at Q Bar in Glendale Heights.

DeWyze, 29, appeared briefly as a mentor during the auditions for the 15th and final season of "Idol," which airs 7 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays. Twenty-four contestants remain in the contest, including Chicago singer-songwriter Manny Torres.
