BRIEF: Marriott brings new AC Hotel concept to Chicago

June 02--Marriott, trying to appeal to millennials, has just opened its first AC Hotel in Illinois.

The property at 630 N. Rush St. in downtown Chicago features "media salons" with Bluetooth technology and USB charging stations, and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout.

The hotel, once a Four Points by Sheraton, opened Friday, an employee at the front desk said, but was officially announced Monday.

It's the fourth AC Hotels by Marriott-branded property to open in the United States, the second in the Midwest, and the first in Illinois.

Its on-site AC Lounge sells craft beers in a can, including Chicago's Revolution, and wine on tap. Kallpods allow guests to request a check, talk to a server or order an espresso. The AC Library, just off the main lobby, has communal tables and a self-service business center. The fitness center offers yoga mats.

AC Hotels by Marriott has nearly 80 locations in the United States, Spain, Italy, Portugal and France. It was launched in Europe in 2011, and more than 50 hotels are set to open in the next three years throughout the U.S. and Latin America.

The Chicago property is owned and managed by Marcus Hotels Resorts.
