July 13--A 26-year-old man was wounded by gunfire Monday morning while he was driving on the South Side in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood.
According to preliminary reports, the man was driving on the 4800 block of South Bishop Street shortly after 11 a.m. when another man approached his vehicle and fired shots, said Officer Jose Estrada, a spokesman for the Chicago Police Department.
The 26-year-old was struck three times and continued driving to the 1300 block of West 48th Street where he was picked up by paramedics, Estrada said.
The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with wounds to his upper right arm, right thigh and upper back. His condition was stabilized at the hospital, Estrada said.
No one was in custody for the attack, and police are investigating.
