Jan. 09--A 20-year-old Chicago man was shot to death as he sat in a vehicle in the parking lot of a Bedford Park Wal-Mart on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Bedford Park police were called to the store at 7000 Cicero Ave. at 4 p.m., police said in a news release Thursday evening.
Police said a caller told them that they heard several shots and saw a male dressed in black fleeing from the area where they heard the gunfire.
When police responded, they found Stephen Sims, 20, in the front seat of a vehicle who was unresponsive.
Sims, of the 5400 block of South Damen Avenue, was pronounced dead at 5:06 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The Bedford Park Police Department is investigating, along with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.
No other details were available.
