BRIEF: Man charged with DUI in crash that killed Brookfield woman, 94

April 14--A south suburban man was charged with aggravated driving under the influence in a crash that left a 94-year-old woman dead Friday, officials said Monday.

Patrick O'Connor, 29, of Justice, was ordered held in lieu of $750,000 bail during a hearing Sunday, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.

O'Connor was driving a 2002 Mercury Sable westbound on Archer Avenue near Lemont about 1:45 p.m. when he crossed into eastbound traffic near 107th Street, sheriff's officials said.

The man struck a 2011 Subaru Outback in which Lillian Landuska, of Brookfield, was riding. She was taken to an area hospital, where she later died.

Sheriff's investigators said that before the accident, O'Connor had consumed alcohol and had been given methadone.

O'Connor was cited for driving too fast for conditions, failure to reduce speed, DUI and crossing the median.

O'Connor is being held in the Cook County Jail.
