BRIEF: Man charged in Southwest Side fatal shooting

Jan. 23--A Far South Side man was charged Saturday afternoon in a shooting that killed a 27-year-old man in the city's LeClaire Courts neighborhood.

Dannee Brewer, 23, of the 10400 block of South Bell Avenue, was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Quante Little, police said.

About 11:45 a.m. Jan. 16, officers responded to a call of a man shot in the 4500 block of South Cicero Avenue. They found Little in a parking lot with a wound to the torso, police said.

Police also said a weapon was found at the scene.

Little was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead less than a hour later. Little, who lived in the 4500 block of West Lavergne Avenue, was shot two blocks away from his home, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Brewer was arrested after he was identified as the gunman, authorities said. He was scheduled to appear Sunday afternoon at a bail hearing.
