BRIEF: Lyric Opera names Ormesher new president-elect

April 29--David T. Ormesher, a Lyric Opera of Chicago board member since 2012 who serves on several board committees, has been named the company's president-elect, effective immediately.

Ormesher, 56, was unanimously elected at a Lyric board meeting on Wednesday, the company announced. A member of the Lyric executive and finance committees and chairman of the innovation committee, Omesher is founder and CEO of the Chicago-based closerlook inc., a digital marketing agency that serves the pharmaceutical industry. He succeeds Lyric interim president and CEO Richard P. Kiphart, who accepted the position on a temporary basis following the sudden death of Kenneth G. Pigott in February. A Chicago resident, Ormesher will remain as president-elect through the end of Lyric's fiscal year on June 30, when the company has scheduled its annual meeting. At that time his title will become president and CEO.
