BRIEF: Justin Turner sidelined for a second day to rest injured big toe

April 24--REPORTING FROM DENVER -- Justin Turner received a second day off in a row to rest his sore left big toe. The digit got stomped by Rockies catcher Tony Wolters on Friday night, and Manager Dave Roberts did not want to risk a more severe injury for Turner.

Turner required off-season microfracture surgery on his left knee. Given the collision of ailments on his left leg, Roberts explained, the team felt it best to be cautious.

Roberts hoped Turner could start Monday against Miami at Dodger Stadium. Roberts also intended to rest first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and second baseman Chase Utley on Monday.

Both outfielder Carl Crawford (lower back irritation) and Louis Coleman (bereavement leave) are expected to rejoin the team Monday. Crawford is slated to play in a minor-league game with class-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday.
