Dec. 01--The bike path along Oak Street Beach was temporarily shut down Monday morning when high waves caused the path to freeze over.
The path was closed north of Oak Street around 7:30 a.m. so crews could salt it down. Officers at the scene reported that several bicyclists slid off the path because of the ice.
Winds gusting up to 30 mph were reported along the lakefront Monday morning as highs hovered in the 20s, with wind chills around zero early in the day.
The weather is expected to warm somewhat through the week, with the high by Friday in the 40s.
