Oct. 28--An evening of high art at the Museum of Contemporary Art's benefit auction Oct. 23 sparked high bidding from guests sporting some very high fashion.
MCA curator Naomi Beckwith's slender black tuxedo and heels turned heads; Helyn Goldenberg's Hieronymus Bosch print dress and Gary Metzner's exaggerated houndstooth print suit were creative highlights. As for the auction, a whopping $3.7 million was raised, with Chicago artist Kerry James Marshall's painting bringing in the highest bid of $700,000.
