BRIEF: Former 'OITNB' star from Evanston splits from husband

Feb. 15--Evanston native Lauren Lapkus, who played a correctional officer on the Netflix series "Orange is the New Black," announced Sunday she and husband Chris Alvarado have split.

"Happy Valentine's Day. Today feels like the right time to post that Chris and I have decided to part ways. This has been a tough time but we are still friends and wish the best for each other," Lapkus posted on Instagram.

The couple married at Salvatore's Ristorante in Lincoln Park in May 2014.

Lapkus, who trained at the iO Theater and attended DePaul University, starred in "Jurassic World" last year and the TBS series "Clipped," which was canceled after one season.
