BRIEF: Engineer hurt, CTA trains halted after derailment in Brown Line rail yard

Nov. 19--CTA Brown Line service was temporarily halted early Thursday morning after a train derailed in a rail yard on the Northwest Side, injuring the engineer.

The train derailed in the yard near the Brown Line Kimball stop at Kimball and Lawrence avenues in the Albany Park neighborhood around 7:10 a.m., CTA spokesman Jeff Tolman said.

No passengers were on board but the train's engineer was taken in fair condition to Swedish Covenant Hospital, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Chief Juan Hernandez.

CTA Brown Line service was suspended between Kimball and Irving Park stops and shuttle buses were used between the stops. Some trains began running again shortly after 8 a.m. but delays were still reported as of 9:30 a.m.
