BRIEF: Dense morning fog along Lake Michigan to slow commute

March 31--A morning fog Tuesday may slow some commuters in the Chicagoland area.

The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory for Cook and Lake counties as well as parts of northwest Indiana, including Gary and Valparaiso. The fog is expected to last until about 9:30 a.m.

Cool moist air from the lake is helping bring in the fog. Drivers traveling along the lake shore may see visibility reduce to a quarter of a mile or less, according to the weather service.

The affected roads include the Lake Shore Drive and Interstates 80, 90 and 94 in northwest Indiana.

Away from the lake, forecasters expect the fog to be light, according to officials.

Drivers are urged to slow down when encountering reduced visibility and leave plenty of space between them and the vehicle in front.
