June 19--Kyle Schwarber's major league cameo continued Thursday night in the finale of the Cubs' two-game series against the Indians.
Schwarber will not remain past Sunday, no matter how well he hits.
"No, unless we move to the American League," manager Joe Maddon said.
Maddon said Schwarber is batting eighth because he wanted to balance the lineup and because Indians' right-hander Danny Salazar is "reverse split guy' who performs better against left-handed hitters than right-handed ones.
"And I want to hit him lower to take some of the thought or pressure off of his mind," Maddon said. "Plus he feeds more, too. (Anthony) Rizzo is hitting in the two-hole, and I think (Schwarber) and (Addison) Russell is kind of an interesting thing. American League lineup, man. You've got to be thick all the way through. This is a different kind of a challenge for him than it was (Wednesday) night."
