BRIEF: Crowned lemur born at Lincoln Park Zoo

May 08--A crowned lemur was born April 23 at the Lincoln Park Zoo. The baby, whose name has not been announced and whose gender is not known, joins its mother Tucker, father Sokkwi (pronounced so-kwee) and 1-year-old sister Sava at the zoo.

"The infant is healthy and is continuously passing critical milestones such as nursing regularly, gaining weight and holding tight to mother," said Maureen Leahy, the zoo's curator of primates, in an announcement from the zoo Friday.

The family of crowned lemurs, named after the gold crown-like coloration on their heads, is on display at the Helen Brach Primate House at the zoo.
