BRIEF: Cops ask for help finding driver who hit, seriously injured woman on SW Side

Oct. 04--Chicago police are asking for the public's help finding a driver who hit and seriously injured a woman who was crossing an Ashburn neighborhood street last month, then drove away.

The 58-year-old woman was in a crosswalk at 84th Street and Kedzie Avenue about 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 15 when a car hit her, seriously injuring her, according to an alert issued by the police Major Accident Investigation Unit on Saturday,

On Saturday, police also released a low-resolution image of what is believed to be the car that hit the woman.

The woman was in a crosswalk when a gray or silver four-door sedan turning from westbound 84th onto Kedzie heading south hit her, according to police.

The driver, a woman wearing a green shirt, got out of the car briefly but then left the scene.

Police did not release a detailed description of the driver, or details about the victim's injuries.

Anyone with information about the accident or the driver is asked to call 911 or call detectives at 312-745-4521.
