BRIEF: Chicago man extradited from Georgia on sex abuse charges

Nov. 01--A Chicago man was ordered held without bail Saturday after he was charged with three counts of predatory sexual assault of victims younger than 13 and one count of failing to register as a sex offender.

Demondre Hooker, 32, of Chicago, was arrested Friday on outstanding warrants in Jonesboro, Ga. He was flown to Chicago and appeared in Cook County bond court on Saturday.

"This defendant is a danger to himself and society," said Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil, before declining to set bail.

Prosecutors said Hooker molested two girls, ages 7 and 9, in April when they visited a home where he was staying. The girls told two adults what happened and the adults called police, prosecutors said.

Hooker also was wanted for allegedly molesting another girl, 8, in February.

Hooker also was accused of failing to register as a sex offender earlier this year after he was found guilty in 2003 of molesting a 5-year-old girl, prosecutors said.

Kuriakos Ciesil ordered Hooker not to have contact with anyone younger than 18, including through the Internet and social media.
