BRIEF: Chefs make food inspired by childhood favorites to benefit Southwest Side school

April 07--The participating chefs and mixologists have been announced for the fourth annual Chefs' Playground, to be held 7-10 p.m. May 19 at Terzo Piano (159 E. Monroe St.).

The event, sponsored by Bon Appetit Management Company and the Academy for Global Citizenship, in partnership with chef Tony Mantuano, will feature tastings of childhood favorites by participating chefs, along with signature cocktails by participating mixologists (and an open bar, as well).

Among the chefs: Jimmy Bannos Jr., Rick Bayless, Phillip Foss, Meg Galus, Sarah Grueneberg, John Hogan, Bill Kim, Matthias Merges, Jimmy Papadopoulos, Joe Flamm and Lee Wolen.

Participating mixologists include Scotty LoBianco, Paul McGee, Julia Momose, Gabriel Orta and Elad Zvi.

Tickets are $250 for general admission; VIP tickets (which include an intimate pre-party at 6 p.m.) are $375. Tickets are available here.

The event will benefit the Academy for Global Citizenship, a charter school on the Southwest Side. The group is working on a 60,000-square-foot, renewable-energy campus.
