BRIEF: Bulls shut out from All-Star starters

Jan. 22--Pau Gasol narrowly missed being voted an All-Star starter for the second straight season, falling 360 votes shy of third-place finisher Carmelo Anthony in fan voting announced Thursday on TNT.

Anthony will join LeBron James of the Cavaliers and Paul George of the Pacers as Eastern Conference frontcourt starters.

Jimmy Butler finished fourth in Eastern Conference backcourt voting, which TNT broadcaster Charles Barkley said represented the biggest fan voting mistake. Derrick Rose finished seventh behind East starters Dwyane Wade of the Heat and Kyle Lowry of the Raptors.

Butler is a lock to make his second straight coach's reserve selection next week. Gasol may prove a tougher addition.

The Western Conference starters are the Lakers Kobe Bryant, the Spurs Kawhi Leonard, the Thunder's Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook and the Warriors Stephen Curry.

Bryant, making his 18th start in his 20th and final season, was the leading vote-getter.
