BRIEF: Bolingbrook man dies week after Lawndale shooting

Feb. 01--A Bolingbrook man died Friday a week after he was shot in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side, authorities said.

Abraham Burgo, 35, was critically injured when he was shot in the 1500 block of South Trumbull Avenue around 5:25 p.m. on Jan. 23, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's officer.

Burgo, of the 400 block of Devonshire Court in Bolingbrook, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 7:01 p.m. Friday, according to the medical examiner's office.

On Jan. 23, Burgo was found inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the neck, police said at the time. Officials then said a girl about 2-years-old was found uninjured in the back seat of the vehicle.

Police said the 35-year-old, who was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment, was a documented gang member, and the motive for the shooting may have been narcotics-related.

As of Sunday morning, no one is in custody as a result of the shooting, and police are still investigating the incident.
