BRIEF: Body of missing 3-week-old baby found in Santa Clarita

Jan. 24--Authorities have found the body of a 3-week-old baby who was reported missing from her home in Santa Clarita by her parents Friday night.

Sheriff's authorities announced the discovery shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday. No other details were released.

Several sheriff's patrol cars were at the scene in the 23600 block of Newhall Avenue on Saturday morning. Coroner's investigators had not yet arrived.

Authorities were also looking at a blue-gray Nissan pickup truck with Oregon license plates in a nearby parking lot.

The infant's parents went to the Santa Clarita sheriff's station about 9:30 p.m. Friday to report that she was missing from their residence in the 21300 block of Alder Drive, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

A search of the home and surrounding areas was unsuccessful. The Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue Team was activated, as well as airborne, K-9 and detectives units, to help with the continued search for the missing baby, whose body was found about half a mile from her home.
